Belarus – Sudan

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Sudan were established on July 15, 1999.

Since June 2016 Sudan is represented in Belarus by Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus Nadir Yousif El-Tayeb Babiker.

In May 2014 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt Sergei Rachkov was appointed by Presidential Decree to non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Sudan.

In November 2005 Mohammed Ismail Mohammed, President of the MIG group of companies was appointed to the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Sudan.

President of the Republic of Sudan visited Belarus in August 2004.

Ministers of foreign affairs, defense and internal affairs of Belarus visited Sudan.

Belarus was visited by the Speaker of Parliament, ministers of foreign affairs, foreign trade, finance, energy and mining industry, agriculture, defense, internal affairs.

In August 2015 Minsk hosted the second round of the Belarusian-Sudanese political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

In April 2016 Minsk hosted the third session of the Belarusian-Sudanese joint commission on cooperation.

The legal framework of the bilateral relations is under development. Protocol on cooperation in the field of energy, industry and trade, Agreement on trade, investment, scientific and technical cooperation; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan; Agreement on cooperation in the field of information; Agreement on cooperation in the field of education, Protocol on cooperation in sports between the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Sudan have already been signed. Interstate Treaty on Friendly Relations and Cooperation is prepared for signing.

Belarusian-Sudanese trade is fully formed by the Belarusian exports represented by tractors, metal goods, fertilizers, tires, electrical equipment.

Imports from Sudan consist of natural resins and medicines.
