Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Dapkiunas visits the Sultanate of Oman

On November 24, 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Dapkiunas paid a visit to the Sultanate of Oman to lead the Belarusian delegation during the Belarusian-Omani political consultations. The Omani delegation was led by Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al-Harty.

During the consultations, the Sides welcomed the high dynamics of bilateral political and humanitarian interaction, active contacts between business circles. The similar positions of the two countries on key aspects of the international agenda were noted. The Sides exchanged detailed views on the situation in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

It was agreed to accelerate the coordination of the two Sides’ positions on drafts of the Belarusian-Omani agreements in various fields including the agreements on the mutual abolition of visas and on the creation of a joint Belarusian-Omani intergovernmental committee. The Sides also agreed to hold the next 4th meeting of the Belarusian-Omani Business Council in the first half of 2020, as well as the Days of Belarusian Culture in Oman.

On the same day, Deputy Minister A.Dapkiunas met with Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Sultanate of Oman Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Deeb and Chairman of the Omani Chamber of Commerce and Industry Qais Al-Yousef, during which the issues of expanding bilateral trade, economic and investment  interaction was discussed.
