Visit of the Governor of South Sinai to the Minsk Oblast of the Republic of Belarus
23.11.2016On November 22-23, 2016 delegation headed by the Governor of South Sinai Mr.Khalid Foda Sedeek visited Belarus with the aim to boost cooperation between the South Sinai Governorate and Minsk Oblast of the Republic of Belarus. The visit took place at the invitation of the Governor of Minsk Oblast Semyon Shapiro. Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov also attended the visit.

Khalid Foda Sedeek was the first Egyptian Governor who visited Belarus in the history of Belarusian-Egyptian relations.

The focal point of the visit was the meeting between the Governor of South Sinai and the Governor of Minsk Oblast Semyon Shapiro, which was held on November 22, 2016. The sides discussed issues of cooperation between the two governorates in the field of economy, trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, sports and culture. Particular attention was paid to the cooperation in the field of tourism. Governor Semyon Shapiro announced that the Belarusian side will assist the South Sinai Governorate in increasing the flow of Belarusian tourists to Sharm el-Sheikh. Following the talks Khalid Foda Sedeek and Semyon Shapiro signed a Memorandum of understanding between the Minsk Oblast, Republic of Belarus, and the South Sinai Governorate, Arab Republic of Egypt for trade, economic, social and cultural cooperation, as well as adopted a road map for the implementation of this Memorandum.

On November 23, 2016 Khalid Foda Sedeek met with the Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Shamko, representatives of the National Tourism Agency and travel companies. During the meeting the parties discussed the possibility of using the sports and tourist infrastructure of Sharm el-Sheikh for training of Belarusian sportsmen and recreation of Belarusian tourists.
During the visit the Egyptian delegation headed by Khalid Foda Sedeek got acquainted with the industrial, agricultural and tourism potential of the Minsk Oblast of Belarus. Egyptian representatives visited the largest plant for the production of dump trucks BELAZ, agricultural holding Dzerzhinskiy, ecotourism center Stankovo, tourist complex Royal Hunt.
