On holding the meeting of the Belarusian-Sudanese Commission on Cooperation

From May 4 to 8, 2026, a delegation from the Republic of Sudan, led by Minister of Energy and Petroleum Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed Ali, visited Belarus to hold the 5th meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Sudanese Cooperation Commission and a number of specialized meetings. The events were attended by the Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt and Sudan (concurrently), Evgueni Sobolevski.

During the Commission meeting, the parties discussed the full range of bilateral cooperation, with an emphasis on trade and economic cooperation. Specific steps were elaborated to develop interaction in the spheres of agriculture, industry, petrochemicals, energy, natural resource protection, healthcare, and education. An agreement was reached to develop and sign a Roadmap for Bilateral Cooperation.

Following the meeting, a final protocol, an Agreement of Intent between the Belarusian State Concern for Oil and Chemistry and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of the Republic of Sudan, and an intergovernmental General Agreement on the Provision of Export Credits were signed. The implementation of the signed documents will contribute to increasing bilateral trade.

Meetings were organized for the Sudanese delegation with the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Energy, Belneftekhim, and the Bank of Development of the Republic of Belarus, as well as visits to enterprises including the Minsk Tractor Works, the Minsk Automobile Plant, the Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after V.I Kozlov, and the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation.

Mohamed Ismail, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Sudan and Chairman of the Board of Directors of MIG Holding, also participated in the visit, as well as to hold separate meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the National Agency for Investment and Privatization.
