On the visit of the Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt S.Terentiev to Algeria

On July 8 – 9, 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sergei Terentiev, conducted a working visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, during which a number of meetings with Algerian partners was held.

During the meeting of the Ambassador with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Algeria, Y.Cherfa, the sides exchanged views on the possibilities of mutually beneficial interaction between the two countries in order to ensure food security. Special attention at the meeting was paid to the issues of certification of Belarusian products for their access to the Algerian market. The interlocutors also discussed upcoming steps for preparing of the 1st meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

At a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production of Algeria Ali Aoun, the sides agreed upon the issue of A.Aoun’s visit to the Republic of Belarus. The interlocutors reached an agreement to expand bilateral cooperation in the industrial sector and to attract Algerian companies to the implementation of bilateral projects in the field of pharmaceutical production. The importance of the participation of Belarusian industrial enterprises in the social and economic development of Algeria was emphasized.

During the visit, the Ambassador also met with the President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry K.Hamenni, during which the sides agreed to organize a visit of Algerian business delegation to the Republic of Belarus in order to coordinate the process of creating the Belarusian-Algerian Business Council and to organize the exposition of Algerian goods and services in Belarus. The interlocutors stressed the need to intensify business contacts between the two countries to expand the areas of trade and economic interaction between Belarus and Algeria.

Within the meeting with the President of the Algerian Confederation of Employers Bouzid Tahar, the interlocutors discussed issues of intensifying interaction between the Belarusian and Algerian business communities, including the possibility of signing Memorandum of Understanding between the Algerian Confederation of Employers and the Republican Union of Employers “BelSN”. The sides emphasized the significant potential of the business communities in opening new horizons for cooperation between both countries.
