On the opening of a joint production line of MAZ vehicle equipment in Egypt

On February 17, 2018 an official opening of a joint production line of JSC «Minsk Automobile Plant» («MAZ») vehicle equipment was held in Cairo. The partners of JSC «MAZ» within thе project are «Helwan Machinery and Equipment» company of the National Organization of Military Production of Egypt and «International Co. for Industry and Projects» company.  

The event was attended by the Minister of State for Military Production of the Arab Republic of Egypt Major-General Dr. Mohamed Al-Assar, the Minister of Trade and Industry Eng. Tarek Kabil, the Minister of Transport Dr. Hesham Arafat, the Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries Eng. Mohamed Zaki Al-Suweidi, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Arab Republic of Egypt, heads of major Egyptian construction companies, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Sergei Rachkov, Deputy Director General – Commercial Director of JSC «MAZ» Mr. Gennady Skitov.

The capacity of the joint production is 500 vehicles per year with a possibility of increase. It is planned to gradually enhance the level of localization of the joint production up to 40 percent in order to supply the products to the markets of neighboring countries of the region. . 

During the opening a demonstration of production processes was conducted by specialists of «Helwan Machinery and Equipment» company at eight assembly sites. An agreement was inked between JSC «MAZ» and «Helwan Machinery and Equipment» company for the supply of machine sets worth 5 mln. dollars for the joint production. Contracts have already been signed with Egyptian end-user companies that cover part of this equipment.

The Egyptian Side has also expressed its interest in the joint production of municipal equipment of JSC «MAZ», as well as machinery for fire-fighting units and special purpose vehicles.
