Belarus – Algeria

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria were established on October 24, 1995.

In December 2019, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentiev was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria non-resident.

The interests of Algeria in the Republic of Belarus have been represented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Russian Federation.

The meetings of the President of the Republic of Belarus and the President of Algeria took place within the framework of the Millennium Summit (New York, September 2000) and the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (Havana, September 2006).

Algeria was visited by Belarusian Minister of Defense (2002 and 2005), Minister of Foreign Affairs (2003), Minister of Industry (2018), and the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus (2009).

Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs (2018), Minister of Industry of Algeria (2003) visited the Republic of Belarus.
In April 2015, the first round of Belarusian-Algerian political consultations at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers, as well as a business meeting of representatives of businessmen of the two countries, took place in Algeria.

The legal framework of the bilateral relations is being formed. The Sides signed the agreement on creation of a joint commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, on the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports between Belarus and Algeria, a protocol on cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Memorandum of Cooperation between the BelCCI and the Algerian CCI.
