Political cooperation
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of the Sudan were established on July 15, 1999.
In October 2019, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt Sergei Terentyev was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Sudan non-resident.
In 2017, the Embassy of Sudan in Minsk was opened.
Since 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to the Republic of Belarus is Mohammed Omer Musa Ali.
Mohammed Ismail Mohammed is Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Sudan (Chairman of “MIG Group”).
In August 2004, President of Sudan paid a visit to Belarus.
In January 2017, President of the Republic of Belarus paid an official visit to the Republic of the Sudan.
In December 2018, President of Sudan paid an official visit to Belarus.
The following Belarusian high-level officials held visits to Sudan: Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Industry, Agriculture and Food, Energy, Defense, Internal Affairs, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank to Sudan took place.
The following Sudanese high-level officials held visits to Belarus: Speaker of the Parliament, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Finance, Energy and Mining, Agriculture and Forestry, Defense, Interior, Education and Science, Governor of Khartoum State.
The Sides held three rounds of political consultations at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers (2014, 2015 and 2016).
In January 2018, the 4th meeting of the Belarusian-Sudanese Joint Commission on Cooperation took place in Khartoum.
The legal framework of bilateral relations includes more than 20 international legal documents, including an interstate agreement on friendly relations and cooperation, an intergovernmental agreement on trade, investment and scientific and technical cooperation, an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments, a protocol on cooperation in energy, industry and trade, as well as a number of interagency agreements and memoranda.
