On the visit of Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to Algeria

17.09.2026

On September 16–17, 2026, a Belarusian delegation led by Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, visited Algeria. During the visit, meetings were held with the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President of the Council of the Nation Azzouz Nasri and Prime Minister Sifi Grieb.

The discussions focused on the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Algeria in December 2025, specifically those outlined in the Roadmap for the Development of Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Joint Statement on Strengthening Relations of Friendship and Partnership between the two countries.

Negotiations centred on trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of joint projects including the supply and joint production of agricultural and passenger machinery, baby food and pharmaceuticals. This agenda was reinforced by the signing on the sidelines of the visit of contracts worth 18 mln dollars for the supply of powdered milk to Algeria.

The parties discussed intensifying inter-parliamentary and political dialogue, noted the alignment of Belarus and Algeria’s positions on key global and regional issues, and reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation on international platforms.
