On the visit of the Delegation of Belarusian scientists to Cairo

On February 27 — March 1, 2023, a delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Sergei Chizhik visited Egypt. The delegation included: director of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Institute of the Meat and Dairy Industry”, director of the State Scientific Institution “Physico-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”, researcher of the State Scientific Institution “Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”.

A meeting was held with the chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Major General Mokhtar Abdellatif. During the meeting, promising areas for the development of bilateral cooperation were discussed. The parties agreed that there is a significant potential for interaction. An algorithm for further joint actions was agreed upon.

On February 28, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the National Research Center of Egypt, Professor Hussein Darwish. A round table was organized with the participation of Egyptian scientists from various fields of science, in which Belarusian scientists spoke about the activities of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and its subordinate institutions and their latest developments. The Egyptian side showed interest in a number of important areas. An agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

A meeting was also held with the rector of the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Ismail Abdel Gafar. The parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in priority areas such as applied mathematics, information technology, and artificial intelligence.

On March 1, a meeting was held with representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Development. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of agriculture and soil science, in particular, the use of modern technologies in agriculture, animal husbandry and fruit plants.

A meeting was also held with the President of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Mahmoud Sakr. The parties discussed the state of Belarusian-Egyptian cooperation in the field of science, interaction between national academies of sciences within the framework of the implementation of topical joint projects. The head of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology of Egypt informed about the interest in using the potential of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the framework of the implementation of important projects for the socio-economic development of Egypt.

The visit of the delegation demonstrated the significant potential for the development of Belarusian-Egyptian relations in the field of science, technology and joint research in accordance with the priority instructions given by the heads of the two states during their high-level visits.
